Karina L. Schrengohst is the head of the law firm’s Affirmative Action Group. Karina advises federal contractors by assisting them in creating and developing affirmative action plans and with OFCCP compliance. She helps clients navigate an OFCCP audit and defends them if the OFCCP issues notices of violation. Karina also has defended clients in a variety of areas of employment law, including discrimination and harassment, wage and hour, breach of contract, and unfair competition claims. In addition, Karina represents unionized employers in court, defending them against unfair labor practice charges, and before administrative agencies, such as the National Labor Relations Board. She assists clients at arbitrations in matters involving contract interpretation and employee discipline or discharge and advises non-union clients on developing the best practices for maintaining a union free workplace. Karina’s other preventive work includes drafting employee manuals, conducting management trainings, and advising companies on topics such as wage and hour compliance, OSHA and workers’ compensation, and disability and leave policies.
Karina received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Government, cum laude, from Smith College. She earned her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Western New England University School of Law where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Western New England Law Review and graduated second in her class. While attending law school, Karina served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Michael A. Ponsor of the Federal District Court of Massachusetts and the United States Attorney’s Office in Springfield, Massachusetts. Karina authors articles and is a frequent speaker on labor and employment-related legal topics.
